On Saturday, April 27, 2019, Artesian Valley Health System (AVHS) hosted a fundraising event to help raise money for new pediatric equipment and supplies at Meade District Hospital. The overall fundraising goal was $21,000 for currently budgeted pediatric needs. The Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas awarded a grant to the hospital for $16,000 which left $5,000 to be raised. AVHS is excited to share that after expenses there was over $6,000 raised! The money raised in excess of the budgeted need will also be used to support pediatric care at the hospital.

There were six kid’s bikes given away and the winners were: Audy Woods, Kasyn Roberts, Levi Riley, Willow Taylor, Josey Fieser and Jazmine Velasquez.
The silent auction was a busy place especially during the last few minutes. The most competitive pieces included an iPhoneXR donated by United Wireless in Dodge City and a Kansas City Chiefs Quilt donated by Honeycomb Quilts in Meade.
Tara Ramlochan, AVHS CEO, shared “It was a great event, it was a blessing to see the kids prancing around, and enjoying the day. I want to say thank you to all of the sponsors, donors, employees, volunteers and everyone from the community who participated in every way. All of your support and generosity helped us reach our goal. This is such a wonderful display of support for health care in our community and for AVHS. I’m truly thankful to every person who was part of this. Each person who was involved should feel proud to be part of this and making a difference right here in our community. With the funds raised, along with a grant provided by the Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas, we’ll be purchasing new pediatric equipment and supplies. It’s important to us to provide quality and comfortable care to children when they come to us and this will help us do that.”
