We strive to provide our patients and their families’ service excellence by providing patient and family engagement. We pride ourselves on being patient and family advocates; assisting the patients any way possible during their health care journey. Our nursing staff is available 24-hours a day prepared to assist you, your family, and our community in time of need, whether you are in the emergency room, inpatient or outpatient. There is a minimum of two (2) RNs and one (1) information assistant/certified nurse’s aide, in-house, at all times. Our ideal staffing is three (3) nurses and three (3) certified nurses aides to provide top notch care our patients and families deserve.
There are 20 high low beds with capabilities of wireless alarms, sitting positions, and weighing options. A negative pressure and positive pressure room are available, as well as a special care room, right off the nurses’ station. All rooms are equipped with computers for bed-side charting promoting time spent with patients.
AVHS MDH nursing staff strives to provide our patients and their families’ service excellence by engaging and empowering the patient and family. Bedside reporting is done utilizing the SBAR format: This is done at the bedside to provide a secure and comforting manner of shift transition. We recommend our patients and families ask questions and express their goals and expectations of the care they are receiving. Currently, we are in a phase of painting our patient care areas. Once this project is complete communication boards will be displayed in each patient room. The boards will portray hourly rounding, patient goals, and contact information. This is another resource to empower patients and their families to feel involved and to understand what is happening with their loved one.
AVHS MDH nursing staff remains up-to-date with regulations by attending educational sessions and providing teach back. AVHS offers monthly education sessions, policy reviews, quality improvement implementation, and annual skills competency check-offs for our nursing staff. In healthcare, where the only constant is the compassionate care the clinical staff, including nursing, will provide you, the rules and regulations are a revolving door of change. Our nursing staff strives to maintain and provide the best standard of care for you and your loved ones. We also provide a discharge packet with patient portal instructions, health profile information, infection prevention information, medication teaching, and your discharge planning checklist. Our ultimate goal is your safety in returning home or transitioning safely and knowledgeably into the next step from our care.
