On Sunday, October 20, 2019 Meade District Hospital hosted their Third Annual 5K for Breast Cancer Awareness. The event was designated as a Fun Run/Walk/Team Effort to encourage all ages and athletic abilities to participate. And that proved true as all ages joined in the event!
The event was organized by LaDonna Trujillo, AVHS Mammography Supervisor and Imaging Technologist, with support from AVHS employees. Event proceeds stay local and will contribute to the purchase of new digital mammography equipment at Meade District Hospital.
There was a total of 56 participants this year. All participants register in one of three divisions – Adults, Kids or Teams. LaDonna shared, “Unlike normal 5K events, this one can be done as a team. They can be together or break it up so each person does however much of the 3.2 miles they can. This makes our 5K unique and helps accompany all athletic abilities. Some people who want to be part of the event may not be able to walk the full 3.2 miles, having a team option allows them to be able to participate with their friends or family and finish it together.”
Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s event and congratulations to all of those who placed in their divisions! Those who placed in this year’s event were:
